
Rev. Dr. Andre C. Loyd, Jr.
Head Pastor
Rev. Dr. Andre C. Loyd, Jr. currently serves as the Senior Servant of Bethel CME Church in Macon, GA, where he proudly calls home. He is the eldest son of Andre’ Sr. and Janice Loyd and is a proud graduate of the Bibb County Public School System and Central Fellowship Christian Academy. At Central Fellowship, he was a standout 5-sport varsity letterman and was honored as the Most Christ-like by his peers in 2006.
Rev. Loyd graduated with honors from Lane College in Jackson, TN, where he excelled as a 2-sport letterman in Basketball and Baseball and earned a spot on the SIAC All-Academic Team twice. During his senior year, he also served as a chapel assistant. After graduating in 2010, he continued his studies at Liberty University, pursuing a Master’s in Counseling. He later returned to Lane College as the Dean of Students and Assistant Basketball Coach.
Driven by a sense of divine purpose, Rev. Loyd attended Phillips School of Theology, where he earned a Master of Divinity in 2015 and served as the student representative to the Board of Trustees for three consecutive years. He completed his Doctorate of Theology with an emphasis on Homiletics in 2022. During his time in Atlanta, he contributed to the educational sector as a High School Teacher and Dean of Discipline at Braddy Preparatory Academy, Head JV/Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Harvester Christian Academy, and Chief Operating Officer of Arlington Christian School.
Rev. Loyd has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career as a student, pastor, and educator. In January 2019, he was appointed to the CME Strategic Plan Commission. His proudest achievement came on July 9, 2022, when Bishop Thomas L. Brown Sr. appointed him as the Youngest Presiding Elder in the CME Church for the Moultrie-McRae-Brunswick District and as the pastor of his home church, Bethel CME Macon.
A proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the NAACP, Rev. Loyd is married to Tamekia L. Downer of Elberton, GA, and they are the proud parents of Andre’ C. Loyd III. His life verse is Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

Rev. Dr. Rutha Jackson is one of our Sunday School Leaders who teaches not only Sunday School but also teaches on Wednesday nights at 6p for Bible Study. She also serves on the Houston County NAACP.
